Maisie Day

Maisie Day sounds like a joke name, or maybe a porn name, but it beats being named after a cartoon like her twin sisters, Merry and Melodie. That last bit would have been a long kept secret if it weren’t for Maisie asking her mother about it. Her mom couldn’t lie to her.

No one can lie to Maisie.

Maisie is a truther. If she asks a question, you answer it. You can’t lie. You can’t decline. Those that have tried have found it very painful to resist. Even just being in Maisie’s presence is enough to get some weaker-minded people to spill their guts about their whole lives whether Maisie wants to hear about it or not. And most of the time she doesn’t.

But if she has to be assaulted by a constant barrage of truth, then she might as well use it to her advantage. Instead of using her power for good, she makes a lucrative living as a writer, turning the truthful tales she’s told (or overhears in some cases) into very profitable fiction by changing up a few things and adding some magic and fantasy to make it believable.

Of course, as Maisie very well knows, the truth is always stranger than fiction.

And she tends to get caught in the middle of it.
